Space is full of unexplored territory, and the moon is no different. While most people believe we have been to the moon, there is a small population out there that still don’t think it was possible. If our last visit to the moon was with Apollo 17 in 1972, things could have changed, right? The moon can certainly be fascinating. For example, did you know that the moon is drifting away from Earth slowly each and every year? Every year it moves approximately 3.8cm further away from Earth. At this rate, in about 50 billion years, it will take about 47 days for the moon to orbit the Earth, rather than 27.3 days. Have you ever wanted to get a closer glimpse of the moon, but haven’t been able to because you don’t have a telescope that’s capable of zooming in that far? Well look no further. Recently a person using the $518 Nikon Coolpix P900 83x Optical Zoom set a world record when he caught this incredible video of the moon in orbit.
I was amazed to see that the moon was actually moving while he was zoomed in. The moon seems like a very fascinating place for us to explore and I hope in the near future, we will uncover even more answers about Earth’s largest natural satellite. Some people have predicted that humans will start living on the moon within 30-40 years. While that seems amazing, I believe we still have a lot of work to do to get to that point. Would you want to live on the moon if it was possible? You can find more details and even purchase the camera here.
