This felt wool artist makes some of the most adorable baby animals you have ever seen! Working out of Khabarovsk, Russia, artist Julia Derevschikova makes animals so realistic you will not believe they are made out of wool. Felted wool is a type of textile that is made by agitating wool in hot water through a process called fulling. Fulling cleanses the material of impurities such as oils and dirt and as a result allows the fabric to be any thickness desired. Then, by condensing and pressing the fibers together, Julia is able to manipulate this wool textile into the shapes of very realistic baby animals. The artist then adds life to the creature by hand painting and gluing in subtle details like eyes and whiskers. The end result is an adorable life-like baby animal.

Unfortunately Julia is no longer accepting orders for the animals. When they were available for sale each one cost about $90. The texture achieved by the felted wool process makes the fur on these animals extremely cute and surprisingly realistic. The choices Julia makes for color and her skillful painting only exacerbates this effect. With every animal having such cute and cuddly eyes I want to buy one of each! She is certainly a talented artist, hopefully she begins selling them again soon! You can see more on Julia’s Instagram or see if animals have recently been posted for sale here.
