For anyone that has worked in the labor field, you have definitely heard of OSHA. OSHA stands for Occupational Safety And Health Administration. OSHA has a lot on their plate. They are responsible for providing information, training, and assistance to workers and employers. They basically set and enforce rules and regulations on how to keep the workplace safe and above normal health standards. Some of these duties also include going to various work sites unannounced to ensure all safety measures are being taken properly. They want all workers to arrive to the job site safely, but even more importantly they want workers to leave the job site alive and well. When this Oregon OSHA inspector arrived at a job site though, he got a little more than was expected!
That was seriously so close! Did you see how the worker in the trench dove onto the pipe to ensure he didn’t fall down the same hole when everything collapsed? That was a very close one. I’m sure this worker’s heart skipped quite a few beats when this happened. And that folks, is why OSHA exists. Hopefully this job site will start to take some much-needed precautions to ensure their employees make it home to their families each and every day. Even though being safe might take a little bit of extra time and a little bit of extra money, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
