Do you love cartoons? How about The Simpsons? If you do, you probably don’t love The Simpsons as much as Michael Baxter does. Michael is a 52-year-old grandfather who lives near Melbourne, Australia. He is a prison officer and decided to take his love of The Simpsons to the next level, proving to the world that he is the Biggest Simpsons Fan Ever!
Michael Baxter has spent approximately AU$12,000 and 130 hours on his Simpsons tattoo. His tattoo artist who did the entire piece of work is named Jade Baxter-Smith.
Baxter said, “I wanted to get something which was unique, which nobody else had, or would even think of getting.” He said his love for tattoos isn’t a new thing for him. He’s been getting tattooed for more than a decade. But The Simpsons work that he has gotten so far has taken 15 sittings over a course of one year.
Baxter said, “It’s an addiction. Once you get one, you want more and more.” His tattoo not only includes the main characters like Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie but it also includes Sideshow Bob, Mo’s Tavern, and other iconic characters and locations.
After much media speculation, Guinness World Records can officially confirm that Australian Michael Baxter holds the record for the “Most tattoos of characters from a single animated series”.
Because of his tattoos, Michael is now recognized world-wide. There was even a campaign to persuade The Simpsons creators, James L. Brooks and Matt Groening, to invite Michael to the US to appear on the show in an animated format.
“I’m recognized everywhere. My friends love it, especially the attention it’s now getting. They all think the tattoo is awesome, especially when they see it in the flesh. My wife Sharyn, and daughters Michelle and Rebecka, love it. My seven-year-old grandson Koehn and my five-year old granddaughter Milah, think it’s fantastic.”, says Michael.

Michael Baxter isn’t the only one getting attention though. His tattoo artist is a bit overwhelmed by the attention that she has received as well. She didn’t think that Michael was serious when he approached her letting her know his plans. But now that the work has been done, they’ve actually traveled together to different tattoo expos and conventions. Michael says, “I’m happy for Jade to use me to promote her work. We’ve got the Melbourne Expo this week. I go and people take photos.” Do you have any favorite shows that you would dedicate your whole body to? While I like The Simpson, Michael is definitely a bigger fan than I am!
