It seems like nowadays there is just never enough space in your home. If you’re anything like me, you are constantly looking for ways to add livable space while keeping away the clutter. When I came across the newest trend amongst people who work at home and people looking for more livable space, I knew I had to share this. Imagine having a space in the corner of your backyard where you could add your own personal flare and have complete privacy. Maybe you’re a masseuse, a psychologist or health coach, and you just want that private space where you won’t have any interruptions. It could be a space that would reflect you and your vision 100%. A place where your clients could come into your office without having to walk awkwardly through your private home just to get to your office. Well look no further! Here are a few options when it comes to the newest trend in upgraded sheds, or shedquarters.
1. The Kanga Room

The Kanga Room is based out of Austin, TX. They offer three different styles to fit their client’s needs: Modern, Country Cottage, or Bungalow.

Their basic package starts around $5,900 and is 8 feet by 8 feet. From there you can add-on the amenities you need like a bathroom, a kitchenette, or even a front porch.
2. KitHAUS

These upgraded sheds are designed by Tom Sandonato and Martin Wehmann. Rather than building the shed from the ground up, they designed these to be modular, site-constructed, prefab structures.

The basic model starts at 117 square feet and is called the K-Pod. They also have larger options if you need more space.
3. Loftcube

The Loftcube was designed to give people who live in the city and in skyscrapers more useable space.

They’re able to fit both a bathroom and a kitchen inside of the Loftcube.

These rooms measure out at 400 square feet and are basically a glass-walled studio.
4. MetroShed

The MetroShed was designed by David Ballinger and is also a prefab, flat packed model that starts at about $6,000.

It’s made of a cedar wood beam post frame with aluminum-framed sliding doors. They start out as a 9×13 room, but if you need more space that’s also available.
5. Modern Cabana

The Modern Cabanas are based out of San Francisco and start out as a 10×12 foot building.

They offer full studios as well that have kitchens and bathrooms inside.

This model is great for an at home office because it has a sliding glass door providing privacy for yourself and your clients.
6. Modern Shed

Modern Shed is based out of Seattle, Washington and was started by a husband and wife team. Their names are Ryan Grey Smith and Ahna Holder.

These upgraded sheds offer a ton of usable living space.

The basic shed is 8×10 feet and starts out at $6,900.

They are flat-packed prefab structures that are very easy to assemble.
7. Modern Spaces

Modern Spaces boasts that their designs are, “Forts For Grown Ups!”

They offer four different boxy styles. They do offer on-site installation if you live in California.

A fully installed Modern Space shed, which includes the foundation and finished exterior, will start out around $6,000.
8. Weehouse By Alchemy Architects

Alchemy Architects, which is based out of Minnesota, came up with the idea for a Weehouse Studio. They include a main room and a bathroom. These upgraded sheds offer an extra 435 square feet to your current living space.
How great are these designs? I would love to have one of these in the backyard. Not only would it be great for a home based business, but it would be great turned into a spare bedroom. Imagine your in-laws coming to visit, and they would have their own living space away from yours! This sounds like the best idea ever.
