Art is such a great medium because it allows the artist to create something that they truly enjoy working on. We’ve seen backpacks that look like body parts, along with many other unique pieces of art. But the creations by Israeli ceramicist Ronit Baranga may take the cake when it comes to unsettling art. The collection is titled Body Of Work, and you’ll understand why when you see the pictures below.
The plates, saucers, and cups are sculpted from clay, then put in a kiln, and painted from there.
In an interview, Baranga said, “I chose to deal with ‘mouth’ as a metaphoric connotation to a border gate. A border between the inner body and the external environment surrounding it.”
These pieces of art are incredibly realistic! It’s amazing to see the time and effort she puts into each piece, creating one of a kind tableware.

The fingers on this piece look insanely real! I would have a hard time using these at a dinner party!
I am guessing that the people who buy her art work aren’t using these pieces on an every day basis. They are more than likely on a shelf being stored like other art, creating conversation between friends and family.
“I would like that anyone who sees my work feels something — what they feel is not relevant to me, as long as they feel. I hope that the emerging feelings will cause the viewers to think about the ideas behind my work,” states Baranga.
She also said, “The combination of ceramic cups with ceramic fingers represent an idea in which the still creates a will of its own, enabling a cup to decide whether to stay or leave the situation it is in.”
