If the serene and meditative state of traditional yoga doesn’t wake you up in the morning, Rage Yoga might be for you. Rage Yoga aims to align your chakras by shouting, swearing, and exercising while washing it down with some ice-cold beer (or a glass of wine). All of this combines into the ultimate stress relief. Though it may not be for everyone, this company aims to build their students muscles and inner strength in a very nontraditional yoga approach. The practice is just beginning to catch on with 12 instructors across the United States, along with an option to partake online in your house.

The founder, Lindsay Istace, states rage yoga is “a practice involving breath work, positional exercises, and the expressing of raw emotions with the goal of attaining good health and to become zen as f***”.

Rage Yoga may sound unofficial, but it is a legitimate fitness program that involves certified instructors.

“We are all angry about something,” Lindsay told CBS DFW, “and we all have been holding onto an F-bomb for a little bit too long.”

During class, students are encouraged to shout, scream, or anything that will help them release their pent-up anger.

Even though the class utilizes traditional yoga poses, it is far from typical in its approach.

“One of the funniest things I think I ever heard was, ‘I told you to do the dishes!’” says Rage Yoga instructor Ashley Duzich.

Rage Yoga offers a fun and unique twist on the “normal” yoga class.

They recognize that this is not for everyone, especially children.

Not only is this a great way to get in shape, but it also promotes good mental health coupled with atypical stress relief.

Right now, Rage Yoga is focusing their efforts to help fight cancer.

With a bit of science on their side, this yoga class might be on to something, too.

In moderation, drinking alcohol is shown to reduce stress and make you feel generally more relaxed.

Screaming and shouting is also believed to be a great stress relief.

Ancient Yogic texts would seem to disagree with this logic, but science seems to support it.

Though some may writhe in disgust thinking about drinking alcohol while doing yoga, this is the exact release many have been looking for. Lets hope this style of yoga quickly becomes a trend, because who doesn’t want to exercise while drinking beer and cussing?
