Summer will be here before you know it! Summer is simply the best because it’s full of barbeques with friends and family and late nights hanging out with neighbors under the warm summer sky. Summer includes relaxing outside soaking up much needed Vitamin D, and how could you forget, it’s the best time to hang out at the swimming pool. Swimming pools are a great way to get exercise, but they’re also a great place to relax. One of the downsides of being in a swimming pool is when you have to get in and out just to get a new beverage. Why can’t your drinks be right next to you? Well lucky for you, we have some step by step instructions on how to make your very own DIY pool noodle beverage boat. It has a lid, it’s waterproof, and it floats. This may be the best and cheapest summer idea yet!
Supplies that you’ll need:
– A Tupperware container with a lid
– A pool noodle
– String
– Don’t forget the ice and drinks

First you start off with a Tupperware with a lid. You can find these at your local dollar store or in the container section of any big box store for under $5.

Next you are going to take your pool noodle. You are going to cut it into four pieces. Two will be the same length as the side of your Tupperware container, then the other two will be slightly shorter to cover the other sides.

You can measure each side of the box for exact measurements, or you could just lay the pool noodle next to the box and cut from there.

Get some string and tie all of the pool noodles together. You’ll want to have a few feet of extra string sticking out of one end of the noodles, so don’t cut off any extra string just yet.

You can see what it looks like when tied together in the picture above.

Next up, slide the pool noodles from the bottom up to the top of the box so the top lip of the box is resting on the noodles.

Now it’s time to test out your new pool noodle beverage boat.

So that’s what the string was for! With the extra string, you can either tie it to something on the edge of the pool so it stays in one place or you can let it dangle, allowing you to pull the beverage boat to you whenever needed.

Next up, fill the beverage boat with lots of ice and an assortment of beverages.

The beverage boat will hang out in the pool with you and will be there when you need it.

If you choose to put glass bottles in the boat, use caution. You DO NOT want glass in the bottom of your pool causing a hazard for everyone that gets in.

Because of the pool noodle and how well it floats, this beverage boat is almost impossible to tip.

Your guests can jump near or around the beverage boat, and it will keep on floating.

As the day goes on, you may need to replace the ice to keep your drinks cool.

But this seems like an overall fantastic idea that can be done for under about $5 if you find the right products to use.

You can fit quite a few beverages in this Tupperware container, so you won’t need to refill anytime soon.

Here are 12 beverages all lined up, and they were able to fit all of them into the beverage boat.

If you want to keep the pool water out of your boat, put the top on. Problem solved!

This is really an easy DIY project that will keep you and your pool guests hydrated on those hot summer days, without having to leave the relaxing waters of your pool.
The ingenuity that went into this is awesome. After seeing this, I can’t help but think, “Why didn’t I think of that?”. If you are able to get all of the items at the dollar store, you could make this amazing pool noodle beverage boat for right around $3.00 (give or take taxes in your area). I know what I’ll be bringing to the next pool party this summer! And it’s cheap enough, you can leave it behind and not feel bad for it. And the pool party hosts will be happy that it was left behind because they’ll be using it all of the time. We guarantee it.
