At some point in our lives, we’ve all probably come across an animal that was trying to make a home in an area that just wasn’t going to work. It usually happens with birds in my experience. My co-worker actually just told me a story about finding a nest with day-old baby birds in it. Unfortunately, the nest was located inside the tongue of a fifth wheel he was helping get ready for a camping trip. He wasn’t really sure how he was going to get them out there. He was finally able to pull the nest out and save the baby birds however, and everything had a happy ending. Well when a group of police officers discovered a mother dove had made her nest on the windshield of a spare patrol car, they knew they had to try to keep her safe. Check out the awesome thing they did for her below.
This is the little lady all the fuss was about. As you can see, she has constructed her nest right in-between where the hood and windshield almost meet.
So they decided to try to give the dove a little protection and taped an umbrella to the windshield of the car. They even put a little cup out with water for her.
They even made an official police barrier with police tape to make sure no one disturbs the little dove.
This was such a nice thing for these officers to do. It’s always nice to see people respecting wildlife, and doing what they can to make sure it is protected and appreciated. I’m sure watching these little birds grow up will be an incredibly rewarding experience. Let’s just hope they post pictures when they are done hatching!
