If you’ve been watching for the last week, Robbie “Maddo” Maddison and the folks at DC Shoes put together a sweet little anticipation building teaser leading up the reveal of their new video PIPE DREAM. In the teaser, Robbie admits, “I’m not doing it to see people’s reactions. I’m doing it just to fulfill a dream.” He continues with, “I want to defy convention. I want to do things that haven’t been done before.”
Sometimes someone talking about themselves and a feat that they’ve accomplished isn’t enough to wet your appetite. So, if that wasn’t enough, check out the teaser featuring DC sponsored Pro-Skateboarder Mike Taylor. Talking about PIPE DREAM, he says, “Everyone at DC was pretty secretive about what was going on. Dude. It’s just gnarly. Like, you’re going to lose it when you see it.” Mike Taylor seems genuinely stoked in this video!
Now, the anticipation has got to have you chomping at the bit! Before you watch the video, though, think about this… Motorcycles and water don’t mix! I mean, given enough speed and a shallow bit of water with great surface tension, you might be able to skim across the water for a split second.
In this video, Robbie “Maddo” Maddison’s bike has been outfitted with skis around the front forks of the bike, a larger ski under the center of the bike, and a paddle for the rear tire that looks like he’s ready to take on the Sahara! Watch the video below as Maddison fulfills his PIPE DREAM of riding some killer waves in Tahiti… on his motorcycle!
In a world full of extreme sports and pushing the envelope, this has got to be one of the raddest things that I have seen to date. While I was watching the video, I was absolutely in awe of how amazing it would be to do something like that. Then, reality smacked me in the face with the fact that I couldn’t possibly justify the cost of the damages and reparation of the bike after becoming impregnated with all that salt water. I guess that’s why, for most of us, this could only be a pipe dream. Some might say that the only difference between an action sports enthusiast and a professional is their willingness to turn those pipe dreams into a reality!
