Photographer Captures Doctor's Emotional Breakdown After Losing 19-Year-Old Patient

As humans, we all tend to take a lot of things for granted. Even if it is something simple like a car ride or maybe more complex, such as the air we breathe. Either way, it is hard for some to understand and believe in gratitude. People in the medical field are the type of people who I believe are taken for granted the most. I think before realizing it, most people don’t understand the humble dedication, never-ending time, and emotional toll it takes to be in that profession. It is so much easier to blame, ridicule, and bash someone then it is to praise them for their unbiased work.  Some people say a photograph is worth a thousand words, and nothing rings truer for the following powerful medical photo.

An EMT at the hospital captured the powerful photo and then he posted it on Reddit saying the following, “The man pictured was unable to save one of his patients, though this is a common occurrence in our field of work, the patients we lose are typically old, sick, or some combination of the two. The patient that died was 19 years old, and for him, it was one of those calls we get sometimes that just hits you. I think people should know that the care providers are just as human as the patients, and this shows that stronger than anything I’ve seen in a long while.”

The user didn’t share any details about the doctor or the patient that had passed away. He simply left it with this, “Within a few minutes, the doctor stepped back inside, holding his head high again.”

What an inspiring story showing a side to the medical profession that is not often showcased.
