Unfortunately, cancer affects 1 in 4 people. Some are lucky enough to beat and others aren’t as luck. Reddit user mister alexander recently told his story when he was diagnosed with Stage 4B Burkitts Leukemia.
He was diagnosed with Stage 4B Burkitts Leukemia and was given a 90% chance of dying. He decided to try an experimental chemotherapy regiment. He was an in-patient at Seattle Children’s Hospital for nearly 8 months before he was able to go home. He was 17 in this picture.
He describes chemotherapy as a being awful.
He says it wasn’t all too bad because of the people he met along his journey. Here he his with a little girl also going through treatment. (she ended up surviving).
He also got to meet a lot of famous people such as Rick Kaminski (aka The Peanut Guy).
He was shocked by the amount of things that have to go into your body.
And here he is now. It’s been 14 years TODAY.
He said the following about his journey, “So here I am today …. its been 14 years TODAY …. all the people I met, the children I knew … friends made and lives lost …. for the rest of my life, I’ll be a survivor. Thanks for sharing this day with me!”
