Being a parent who has had two premature babies, this story was extremely touching! The nurses and doctors that pour their heart and soul into the well-being of your baby are true heroes. They do everything in their power to make sure both you and your baby are well taken care of and comfortable. They can make this a reality even if your baby is attached to wires and has tubes everywhere to help them survive. When Chris Trokey was born 34 years ago weighing in just over 3lbs, nobody had any idea that he would be able to save the same doctor that helped save him when he was born prematurely. Just 30 years later, Chris Trokey was able to pay back his doctor in the most unimaginable way possible.
Thirty four years ago, Chris Trokey was born prematurely and had an extended stay in the hospital. His physician, Dr. Shannon, worked around the clock to make sure Chris survived and had the best start to his life as possible.

Never thinking that he would have an opportunity to repay the doctor that saved his life, Chris was given the chance in 2011. This story is just coming to light, but it doesn’t make it any less incredible. Chris, who is now a paramedic, was called to a car accident where a man was pinned inside of an SUV that was starting to catch fire.

When Chris and other paramedics arrived, they were able to free the man who was pinned under the truck, but he was sent to the hospital and that was that.

Chris decided to go back to the hospital to see how the man was, knowing that he was badly injured when they arrived at the hospital. After finding out who the victim was, both Chris and Dr. Shannon realized that they had met before, only 30 years previously. Dr. Shannon would end up recovering, however he did spend 45 days in the hospital due to severe internal injuries.

What an incredibly touching story. And now that Chris is a father, Dr. Shannon is also his son’s pediatrician. I bet it was so amazing for the two of them to meet face to face thirty years after Dr. Shannon saved Chris’ life. And now Chris was able to repay Dr. Shannon in an amazing way.
