Interacting with wild animals can be an extremely awesome experience. It’s something that many of us would remember for a lifetime. There are plenty of vacations you can go on that highlight the areas unique wildlife and even give you a chance to get up close and personal with some native animals. South Africa is definitely one of those places. There are many wild creatures that call this country home. The abundance of wildlife makes it a prime destination for adventure seekers who are willing to get up close and personal with these creatures. You see videos all the time of Cheetahs and other big cats getting way to close for comfort to some of the vehicles that are out animal watching. These cyclists in South Africa got first hand glimpse at how close the wild life can get the population. Watch the right side of the video screen carefully, you’re in for one heck of a surprise!
That thing has some powerful legs! The poster of the video is part of a cyclist training group, and said the bird had absolutely no problem with keeping up with them at 50 KMH (roughly 31 MPH). The ostrich is known as a flightless bird, but what it lacks in flying ability it more than makes up for in speed. The ostrich’s legs are so powerful that one kick has the ability to kill a man! Luckily the riders didn’t seem concerned with Ostrich, and that Ostrich just looked like it wanted a little bit of competition for once. These riders got to experience something most of us couldn’t even dream of, and luckily for us they caught it all on camera.
