Camouflage has been found in nature for….well probably forever. Animals use it to disguise themselves in their quest for prey, or as a defense to avoid being eaten by predators. Humans have adopted it for hunting, and even for war fighting. Snipers will camouflage themselves to the point where if you can find them, you should receive some sort of prize. One area that has become more and more prevalent in its use is art. You may be thinking “How can camouflage be incorporated into art?” That’s a good question. For the answer, you’re going to have to look at these photographs extremely closely. In this art project titled Metamorphosis, body painters Leonie Gené and Joerg Duesterwald collaborated with photographers Laila Pregizer and Uwe Schmida in order to incorporate the human body into various natural landscapes.
Up close this one isn’t that difficult, but from a little farther away I could see it being pretty tough. All these photos contain a body painted model
If it wasn’t for the hair, I wouldn’t have gotten this one for a while. The lines are absolutely perfectly matched to the rock.
This one seems a bit easier. The body painting is exquisite, it’s just quite easy to make out the smooth shape of the model.
Believe it or not, there are actually two models in this one.
I can’t tell where the top model’s legs even end!
This may look like an empty cavern, but it holds something beautiful.
It took me a minute for this one.
These two combine to make a lonely tree in a beautiful field.
The artist picked amazing backdrops for these photos. It’s the models who truly bring the photos to life though.
This models body blends in so well with the trunk of this tree, I’m starting to think she is just actually growing out of it.
It really looks like those branches are growing right out of her arms. I almost wouldn’t have been able to find her if not for her face being visible.
The coloring is absolutely perfectly blended and matched, this is beautiful.
Her baby bump definitely makes for the perfect rock look-alike.
The artists has an extreme talent.
This was one of the harder ones I encountered. She looks exactly like an icicle.
It’s almost as if she has merged her body with the moss and leaves.
Probably the easiest one out of the bunch.
I love how this gives off the illusion that her body is slowly being taken over by the tree.
I’m still not sure if I’ve found the model in this one but I’m guessing she’s the hoodoo to the right.
Her body has become one with the Earth.
The color matches flawlessly with the model and her surroundings.

Art comes in many different forms. In fact, you can pretty much look at anything someone has created and say it is art. If it comes from their own mind and creativity, it can be considered art. This photographer decided to use humans and body paint as their medium. The painter was able to capture the essence of each environment on the skin of the models, in a truly beautiful way. Most of these may not have been too hard to spot, but that doesn’t take away from their beauty.
