I am always very impressed when people get creative when building their dream house. It is impressive to see a one of a kind house. They pour their heart and soul into their home, so they can get every single detail that they wanted right. This could be the case when building a gigantic mansion, or a small 400 square foot tiny home. It’s 100% up to the owner and the builder they are working with. Sometimes people just want to get a little bit of attention with their home too. Well that is exactly what Polish architect Jakub Szczesny claims to have built, the world’s narrowest house, just 5 feet wide across at its widest point and it’s called “The Keret House”. This narrow home is something that might be gaining popularity soon, with the soaring housing costs.
When you walk by, you really don’t notice anything special.

The ‘Keret House’ is squeezed into a crevice between two buildings in the center of Warsaw and will provide a temporary home for traveling writers.

The designer thought one day, “What kind of home can I build there?”

“It requires a sense of humor, as you cannot stay long in a place like this,” he said.

The body of the house is raised up on stilts and a staircase leads inside from underneath.

At its narrowest point the house is no more than 2 feet, 4 inches wide.

“It has already become a Warsaw icon and is already on the tourist map,” said the architect.

“Everything was custom and everything needed to be pushed,” said Szczesny, explaining how they managed to fit in all the necessary furnishings.

The house is 5 feet wide at its widest point.

Here’s a look at the entire design and how they maximized this extremely small space.

Pretty crazy, right? I don’t think I could live there longer than a week; I would get a bit claustrophobic. But I love the idea, the design, and the concept behind it. How great to be a traveling writer and have the opportunity to stay here while you think about your next adventure.
