You know how you hear those stories about people living in their house for years, then along comes a developer with a lot of money and the family has no choice but to move? Here are some examples of people who absolutely refused to move. In China, this is called a nail house. Below are pictures of nail houses from around the world. Not only did they make it very difficult for the developer to develop the land, but they stuck to their guns and kept their home and property. These are amazing!

Owned by Austin Springs – Located in Washington D.C.

In 2008, a developer offered Austin Spriggs $3 million dollars for this home that is only worth $200,000. He said no, took out a loan and turned it into a pizzeria.

This farmer refused to sell his land and is now locked between a few freeways.

Some of these are pretty incredible, and it’s crazy to think that people own these houses! Whether they are living there or just wouldn’t sell due to spite, what happens when the land around them is developed is pretty sad. I am amazed at the lengths some developers went to when building their contracts as well.
