Artist Transforms Parents’ Ordinary Home Into Monster House

Christine McConnell, an artist, photographer and a baker, now takes pride in transforming her parents house into a Halloween treat that is the talk of the town! Her artistic ability really came into play this year when she took her DIY to the next level with this monster house. It really amazes me how people can come up with ideas like this. With a little creativity, time and hard work, Christine takes some basic items and turns her parents house into nothing short of an amazing Halloween treat!

This project starts with a little imagination and a bunch of Insult-Foam. Christine took her rough idea and cut out the foam insulation to shape the new additions to this monster house. Using foam insulation is a brilliant idea as it is a lightweight and fairly inexpensive material, which is also easy to work with.

After the individual pieces are cut to size, Christine paints them white for a nice clean canvas to begin her artwork.

She waits until the paint dries and sketches out the inside of the eyes.

Painting all of the parts step by step saves a lot of time. This monster house is a pretty time-consuming project that Christine has decided to tackle, so she wants to save time where she can!

After the eyeballs have been meticulously painted, the eyelids are added to add an amazing aspect of depth and realism.

To match the 2006 movie, large teeth are prepared so that visitors will actually feel like they are walking into the mouth of the monster… Monster house, that is!

Once everything has been completed and the paint has had time to dry, it’s time to hang the amazing decorations!

It’s easy to see with this nighttime photo, that the hard work is going to do a pretty good job at keeping the trick or treaters away!

While the daytime photo may not be quite as creepy, it allows you to revel in the beauty and handiwork of artist Christine McConnell!

Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. While I have failed miserably at my aspirations of creating a scary and haunted looking house with my decorations as of late, I find myself truly inspired by Christine. Her artistic ability, vision and hard work really paid off with this latest triumph.
