An Australian woman named Natalie Bell has a daughter named Shae who inspired an idea that is making a huge impact for thousands of people around the world. Natalie’s idea was sparked by the fear of her daughter being in an accident. It was a simple message that could be relayed to any responders about her daughter’s health issues. She shared the idea with her social media and overnight it went viral. Natalie owns a business called Personalized By Nat and she makes personalized items mainly for parents and special needs children. She woke up to thousands of requests for her latest idea and it’s going to save many lives.
The idea was simple yet very effective. A Seatbelt cover with bold letters warning responders about the child’s special needs during a time of crisis.

She posted this on her Facebook page, “I always wonder what would happen if I was in a car accident with my daughter in the car and I was unable to let the doctors know that my daughter could not have a MRI due to having a cochlear implant, now I don’t need to worry about that with these seat belt covers. These can be made for any special needs that the medical team will need to know if you are unable to tell them.”

The covers are able to strap to a seatbelt or other things like a backpack to relay a life-saving message.

Shae is deaf and her cover lets responders know she cannot have an MRI due to her Cochlear implant.

After thinking of the benefits this cover would have for her daughter, she decided to create others that would benefit parents and children with other issues, concerns or needs as well.

Natalie knows that medical bracelets are very useful but the often get covered up by clothes or have the ability to come off or get lost during an emergency situation. The seatbelt cover stands out very clear, it is large and bright making it clear to any responder approaching immediately.

Sometimes the first responders of an accident won’t be medical professionals knowing to initially look for a medical bracelet. This idea also solves that problem.

They come in a variety of designs, all with the purpose of standing out and conveying a message.

Natalie received thousands of messages for people requesting a cover. Because of the high demand right now, there is a waiting list nearly a month out.

The covers are only $15 making them very affordable.

Medical bracelets have come a long way since the old small metal ones and they do stand out much more.

There are now colorful options that are designed to stand out and draw attention to them.

The limitation is that not everyone knows to look for a medical bracelet if there is an accident or emergency situation.

The seatbelt/pack strap is easier to see and noticed much faster. But if you’re not in a car or carrying a backpack there are much more modern, bright and comfortable bracelet options designed for children.
