Some people set high goals in life and one of those in running a full 26.2 mile marathon. But for the rest of the people – we might just like to have a glass of wine. But what if you like both – marathons and a little boozing?
Then the Marathon du Medoc might be for you.

The wine-drinking marathon is held in Bordeaux, France and it goes through a variety of different vineyards, castles and estates.

But they do also offer water stations along the way so that runners don’t get TOO dehydrated.

But why have water, when you have the option of drinking a nice glass of wine instead?

During the marathon, there will be a number of drinking stations that you can stop at to take advanced of wine-tasting and even cheese sampling.

In addition to stopping for wine, you can also try some of the local oysters, grapes and ice cream.

People can also dress up for the event with a winner being picked out at the end for best costume.

Founded in 1985, the race takes its name from the Medoc wine-growing region, north of Bordeaux on France’s Atlantic coast.

The fastest time recorded at the 2018 edition of the race was just under two hours and 26 minutes, set by French athlete Denis Mayaud.

Participants are given six and a half hours to complete the marathon so you should have plenty of time to get down several glasses of wine before finishing.
