Every now and then you see an interesting car that makes you do a double take, you know that Maserati that you can hear a block away or a super fast brightly colored Lamborghini. It is not very often that a Volkswagen Beetle will make you turn your head, that is why this one is so amazing. For a Volkswagen Beetle to stand out, you know it has to have some serious character and stand out among the thousands of others you see driving around.
At first glance, it looks like a normal brown beetle.

Taking a closer look. It is made out of… wood?

71-year-old Bosnian retiree, Momir Bojic, made a completely wooden Volkswagen Beetle from more than 50,000 individual pieces of oak. It took him more than two years to finish this masterpiece.

The iconic car’s body is covered with thousands of tiny pieces of oak, each of which required at least 23 separate procedures before it considered a finished piece of the car.

This stunning Beetle has a full wooden body, wooden steering wheel, hub caps and dashboard. He even made a matching hat out of tiny oak pieces that compliments the car perfectly.

Absolutely beautiful. This guy has patience.

I absolutely love how intricate the details are. Take a look at the rail that wraps the inside of the windshield frame. Or how about the hand carved wooden stereo knobs?

By the looks of it, he didn’t leave his workshop for two years straight. I can’t imagine how many hours were invested into this one of a kind project.

Everywhere he goes people are amazed by his work.

Being a huge fan of Volkswagen, I would love to see this unique Beetle in person. I would also like to see the process he uses to make each little piece of oak perfect. By the looks of it, this car can withstand the elements just as well as a wooden boat would. He took his time and made sure each and every piece was perfect. What an inspiring guy full of talent and dedication. I love a good DIY project but this one might be just a little out of my skill range. Either way, I’m impressed.
