Anyone that either has kids, or is around kids a lot, knows that they can make some extremely unusual requests. Maybe they want an awesome new bunk bed that almost seems unreal, or they might request the biggest birthday party that just isn’t realistic. Well one daughter made quite the unusual request to her mom. Her favorite movie is Labyrinth, but they were unable to find any Labyrinth dolls anywhere in the stores or online. So this mom decided to make her daughter the coolest present ever.
This was her daughter’s favorite scene from the movie, Labyrinth.

She started off with this Barbie and used the dress as a starting point.

This was her starting point for Jareth.

Because the character had dark hair, she used the head of this Barbie.

This Barbie head wouldn’t be completely wasted though. She was going to use the blonde hair for Jareth and use the earrings on the other Barbie head.

Now the head has been replaced on the other Barbie, and the real magic will start to happen.

As you can see she removed the straps and embellishments. This mom had a vision and she was determined.

To create the eyeshadow and gloves, she used enamel model paint to give Jareth an authentic feel.

She cut off the pompadour using a razor blade to create the hair-line she was going to need.

Because the hair-line didn’t match exactly, she used black enamel to give the character the hair-line that was needed.

She also used the black enamel paint to thicken her eyebrows.

Time to get some hair for Jareth. Good thing she saved this Barbie’s head.

She started to glue the blonde hair on in layers to give it the effect that was needed to make these feel truly authentic. She also used more black enamel for the eyebrows.

It’s a little hard to see what it’s going to be, but she kept on going.

This project ended up getting hair everywhere.

She found this material at Hobby Lobby. She used it to create the puffy sleeves and Jareth’s cravat.

This is the beginning of the sleeves. You can see what she’s trying to achieve.

And this is the beginning of the cravat.

She glued the puffy sleeves to the actual arm wires, then glued the beads to the hair and dress.

Now it’s time to fine tune the details. She changed the eye color, added blush, and hot glued the gems to the earrings.

She found the image on Google, then printed the box cover and hot glued it to the plastic.

Time to create Jareth’s jacket and vest using this ribbon.

It was time to add even more layers to Jareth’s hair.

She did it in clumps to save some time, as a lot of hair needed to be added.

She started to trim the hair as she went to create the look she was going for.

Getting so close!

She made a box for each of the Labyrinth dolls.

These turned out so well! She put a lot of hard work into them, but I bet she’s so happy with the outcome.

By the smile on her daughter’s face, I think this was success!

This mom definitely went above and beyond when it came to creating a memorable present for her daughter. This present is one of a kind and her daughter will definitely treasure these DIY Labyrinth dolls for years to come! What do you think of these Labyrinth dolls? Let us know in the comments below.
