Cemeteries are not somewhere I go willingly. It’s not that I’m scared of them, it’s just…well they’re depressing. So much death in once place really throws me out of whack. When I am forced to enter them though, I like to try to be as respectful as possible. There is no telling what kind of supernatural things could be going on inside a place with so much death. So hearing noises coming from a tomb would be the absolute last thing I would want to happen while wandering through a cemetery. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened to a cemetery worker in Brazil. He was doing his daily walk through of the place when he heard noises coming from INSIDE a tomb. This would be enough to send most people running for the hills with a tale of ghosts, but he decided to investigate. What he found was absolutely heartbreaking.
The worker was walking past this tomb when he heard strange sounds coming from inside. This would cause me to absolutely freak out. It wasn’t a ghost that was inside however. When cemetery officials arrived, they discovered it was a tiny kitten!
After getting permission from the family, they opened up the tomb to try to retrieve the kitten.
They called in a local animal rescue organization to help in the rescue effort.
They removed the front of the tomb, and it suddenly dawned on them. If they wanted to rescue this helpless little kitten, someone was going to have to make the journey INSIDE the tomb!
Luckily, one volunteer braved the spooky depths of the tomb and soon emerged with a crying little cat.
Thankfully, the kitten was just a little dehydrated. Other than that it was doing just fine.
The animal rescue group says they believe the kitten’s mother stashed it there for safekeeping, but for some reason was not able to come back and retrieve it.
This story thankfully had a happy ending. There are probably many people who would have simply said “Well there is nothing I can do about this” and walked away. The cemetery should be applauded for his efforts. If not for his quick thinking and rush to action, this little one may have never made it out of that tomb. Then there really may have been a ghost in there, the ghost of a tiny kitten.
