These crafty young parents have taken DIY to the extreme with this beautiful hand-made bookshelf. Using inexpensive materials and just a few tools they constructed a work of art that is not only esthetic but also extremely functional! They originally got the idea from an image they had seen online of a similar bookshelf. The couple, Jessica and Sinclair Breen, immediately fell in love with the design and had to make one for themselves. Check this out.
“When I showed Sinclair he almost had a heart attack,” Jessica told FEMAIL. “We knew we had to try it.”

Jessica measured her wall and brought the original photo to a graphic designer at the school she works for.

They crunched some numbers and provided Jessica with the final dimensions of bookcase.

The couple brought these dimensions to a local cabinetmaker, Aussiecut, and had board cut and pre-drilled to make the installation easier.

Starting off with a bunch of square boards and a fake MDF wall, Jessica and Sinclair began assembling the 144 boards into this beautiful work of art.

With 36 cabinets in total, this bookcase has plenty of storage space for any home library.

It took the couple 16 hours to assemble the bookcase along with weeks worth of planning.

Jessica and Sinclair own a home renovation company in Brisbane, Australia.

The couple began the project as part of a qualifying campaign for a reality TV show called The Block.

The Block is a show about couples who compete in home renovation to see who can sell a house for the highest price.

Jessica and Sinclair haven’t made it onto the show yet.

But, they might be competing in The Block Season 16, it is rumored to be released in late 2020.

In total, it cost the crafty couple $900 (US $530) to build the book shelf.
