His name is Dobri, and most people would see him as a scruffy old man. When I heard his story, I learned something important about judging people by their appearance. This old homeless man can show you what it’s like to be a hero. He doesn’t have much, but he possesses compassion that is more valuable than any pile of gold. When you see what the 99 year-old does every day, you’ll realize that superheroes are real. They just aren’t who you think they are and here’s the proof:

This is 101-year-old Dobri Dobrev, a man who lose most of his hearing in the second World War. He has spent decades traveling 15 miles by foot every day, wearing his homemade clothes and leather shoes. He travels from his village to the city of Sofia, Bulgaria where he spends the day begging for money.
Strangely enough, Dobrev isn’t begging for himself. He manages to survived off of his pending of about $100 a month.
Over the years, he has collected over $50,000 and has been donating all of to orphanages who were unable to pay their bills.
He doesn’t keep a cent of the money he receives.
Some call him “The saint of Baylovo”, his place of birth.
He is cherished by everybody and is often called “Dyado Dobri” (Grandpa Dobri) and he represents the good that can be done in the most selfless way possible.

So, if you’re in need of a role model, here is one. Just by being a little bit like him, the world would be a much better place.
He could have used the money for his own selfish reason. He didn’t have to spend his days on the streets, but he does, just so he can give all of his money to children without families.
