Nuclear war was a big concern to people back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. So much so that people would invest their hard-earned money into underground shelters that were capable of withstanding nuclear blasts. They would fill them with all the amenities of modern life, and try to survive long enough to help rebuild humanity. Well you may not want to head back up to the surface after seeing this incredible fallout shelter.
You might think this is your average house in the suburbs, but you would be wrong.

The house was built in 1978
The owner was slightly paranoid from the Cold War

This is the underground fallout shelter he had built beneath

This is the hidden stairway that leads to a secret elevator

Here is the elevator

And here is the most amazing fallout shelter you will ever see

Because who doesn’t need a BBQ camouflaged as a rock

And a putting green

And fake windows with fake views

A kitchen any Barbie Doll would kill for

All the latest appliances

A bathroom that is bigger than some New York City apartments

Very spacious indeed

And very yellow

But step in the basement…
And you will find a swimming pool, dance floor, and a jacuzzi

Anyone care for a game?

Nothing is complete without a water feature

A little nature

All this and a complete two-story house above

This house recently sold for 1.4 million dollars.

This is definitely a fallout shelter that will serve its purpose. I love the way it tries to bring nature into the design of the shelter. When the end of the world happens, you probably aren’t going to want to take many, if any, trips outside. So having nature brought to you would be a huge plus.
