Old and new worlds are colliding, but it isn’t anything to be alarmed about. Actually, it’s something I’m pretty excited about. Gypsies were a group of people known for their traveling, nomadic nature. Wagons were their main source of transportation as they traveled from town to town selling their wares. These wagons contained their entire lives. Everything they had needed to be able to be contained within the tube like structure. With the development of modern technology, Gypsy wagons have pretty much gone by the wayside since the development of motorized transportation. However a carpenter named Greg Mort and his partner based in Bristol, Connecticut are creating one of a kind living spaces that combine new world comforts with the old classic mystique of a Romany Gypsy wagon. The appeal of having a beautiful wooden wagon with all the comforts of home is easy to see. Check out what these two carpenters have been up too, and you may find yourself wanting one of these as bad as I do.
This is the shell of one of Greg’s custom-built Gypsy wagons.
The structures are fairly simple. Over complicating them would take away from the feeling of being a real Gypsy traveling the countryside when you are out on your adventures.
Don’t mistake that with low quality however, these things are definitely built to last.
Each wagon takes about 5 months to build. I love that this one has a little stove, heater and sink inside!
These things have storage aplenty. It wouldn’t do much good if it couldn’t hold everything you needed to a long journey.
Customizing the inside to your personal style and taste would be one of the most fun parts about getting one of these! The bunk bed option definitely seems like the way to go.
This would be so much better to go camping in than an RV!
This place even looks cozy in the winter. This would be a great hangout when you aren’t using it while traveling!
They even blend in with the natural environment well. They just look like they belong out here.
I imagine this is what the American west looked like when it was being settled. Caravans of wooden wagons all traveling together.
Now if you want the custom paint job on your wagon, it’s going to cost you a little extra.
You can rest assured though that the entire thing will be meticulously hand painted. No generic patterns here, each one of these painted wagons are completely unique.
This one even has some stained glass to add even more color! These pictures are making me re-think my spending plans and possibly getting one of these!
You can bet you will be getting a lot of waves and smiles from people appreciating the quality, craftsmanship and originality of your wagon.
You don’t even need a truck to haul it! A simple van will do just fine.
Getting a group of friends together for a road trip with these things would be quite the experience.

A life on the road is something I have been dreaming of for a while. Having one of these to live in would be absolutely everything I would need. You can customize the interior in a variety of fashions to suit any and all of your needs. Having a heater in the wagon would also make spending some cold nights in there bearable if it had to be done. The fact that these are all individually made by hand makes you really appreciate the effort that went into them even more.
