Plenty of us probably had a treehouse growing up. It was a staple of being a kid, and honestly one of the most fun things you could have in your backyard. I remember traipsing through the woods to pick out the tree that my dad, brother and I were going to use to build our treehouse together. It took us a few hours to find a good tree. I was told no on about 10 different trees because I was so impatient. I just kept trying to get my dad and brother to agree on one so we could start building. My dad has told me quite a few times that building a treehouse with my brother and I was one of his fondest memories of being a dad. I think a lot of dads and grandpa’s would probably say the same thing. Well for Jay Hewitt, he had known he had wanted to build his grandchildren a treehouse even before they were born. Jay had a tree house growing up, though he admits it was little more than a 4×8 piece of plywood. Jay is an experienced contractor who started building his 3 story treehouse a little over a year ago. He definitely wasn’t messing around when he made his statement about the treehouse he was going to build. This 3 story treehouse is absolutely incredible. It definitely makes me want to go back to being a kid again.
This is the treehouse that Jay Hewitt built for his grandchildren. Even before they were born, he knew this was something he wanted to do for them. This is definitely one of the most elaborate tree houses I have ever seen. This thing is 3 stories tall!
Jay is an experienced contractor and handyman. He did all this incredible work himself. From the looks of it, he did not cut any corners either. How could you though when you know your grandchildren are going to be playing in this thing.
This 3 story treehouse looks like really solid construction and seems to have everything a kid could want!
Jay’s grandchildren are Jacob and Kayla. Jacob is 5 years old and Kayla is 4. They are the almost the perfect age to start enjoying something like this.
“You’ve never seen a treehouse like the one I am going to build for them,” he recalls telling his family. Well it’s safe to say he accomplished his goal and then some with this 3 story treehouse.
The stairs leading to the upper levels of the treehouse are fashioned from actually Birch Trees from the property. This gives the treehouse a very authentic feel of belonging in the woods. No detail was overlooked when designing this incredible treehouse.
This structure is so big that Jay actually designed it around two whole trees. I love how he was able to incorporate a look that makes the tree one with the house. It looks like the whole structure naturally grew from the tree.
It even has a balcony on every level of the house. All you need is some insulation and I would want to live in this thing!
You wouldn’t even need to take the stairs, you could take the slide down to the bottom of the house. This is what I’ve always dreamt about!
This treehouse is definitely one of a kind, and probably the coolest one I have ever seen. It’s actually nicer than my place.

Jay should feel very satisfied and proud of his creation for his grandchildren. They are definitely going to be wanting to pay Grandpa and Grandma a lot of visits in the future, and who could blame them? This is something that his grandchildren will get enjoyment out of for years to come. That is of course if it doesn’t sell. He has actually put the whole property up for sale. Jay has indicated that if he doesn’t get the asking price for the property, he is going to create a walkway to another tree. He is then going to start building ANOTHER full tree house. Best Grandpa ever!
