We have evolved into living in a giant metropolis. A city where a vast assortment of anything we could possibly need or dream up is available. It sounds nice however a big city is one of the last places some people want to be. Some people try to avoid big populations, traffic and the noise all together. It is a lifestyle that is drawing a bigger crowd. The appeal is the cost, the isolation, the quiet, the connection with nature and many other things. We came across a community that 4 couples created by pooling their money together to create. They have been friends for 20 years and decided it was time for a change. This birthed their settlement called the ‘Llano Exit Strategy’.
The designed and built tiny homes that cost roughly $40,000 each. They were designed being as eco-friendly as possible.
Architect Matt Garcia utilized slanted roofs with water barrels to store up to 5,000 gallons of rain water. The walls are reflective to keep out the Texas heat.
Who wouldn’t want to live with your best friends as all of your neighbors? Sounds like a perfect situation!
They make their retirement plans together and have built a sustainable settlement where they can grow old together.
The interior of the homes has everything you could need without anything you don’t. This cut down on the cost considerably.
The bare walls give a warm feel and actually look really awesome with the grain exposed.
The homes only cost $40,000 which is a fraction of what the same size of home in a big city costs.
They are 400 square feet, offer a queen size bed, bathroom, office area and a sitting area.
“It’s a high-design finish that doesn’t cost a lot of money,” said architect Matt Garcia.
The concrete floors keep the interior cool in the summer and warmer in the winter.
The water system is huge and can store up to 5,000 gallons of rainwater.
The pitch of the roof is designed to capture a large volume and direct all of it to a drain leading to one large tank.
A close up shows just how big the water tank is!
The porch looks like the perfect spot to enjoy the evening glow.
