In Wausau, Wisconsin firefighters were called to the scene of a burning house. When they arrived they quickly busted into the house to search for any people who may be unconscious. While clearing the house they came across an unconscious body but when they got closer they noticed it was a big Labrador Retriever. The firefighters immediately picked up the dog and brought it outside for some fresh air. After noticing the dog was not responding, they knew they needed to resuscitate the poor lab.
Firefighters found the lab unconscious in the burning house due to smoke inhalation.
They had to perform mouth-to-mouth, I mean mouth-to-snout resuscitation which can be difficult on a dog.
One firefighter held the mouth closed while the other forced fresh air into the lab’s lungs.
They thought they were going to lose the dog until its eyes opened and it started breathing slowly and coughing.
As soon as the dog was breathing, they took him away from the house and sat the dog in the Fire Chief’s car where the dog proceeded to kiss its owner and the firefighters uncontrollably. This dog was happy to be alive!
What a scary situation this poor lab must have been in that would have ultimately lead to its death. Luckily, we have brave men and women who risk their lives to go into burning buildings to fight fires and save lives. This lab was no exception and was treated just as special as anyone else would have been. Luckily for the dog ,the firefighters arrived soon enough to save its life so it can rebuild a new home with its owner.
