There was a recently a Reddit user who shows how a man rebuilds cars with expandable foam and cardboard stencils. The cars start out as a pile of metal and turn into some amazing DIY luxury cars. He uses his skill and patience to create unimaginable works of art using materials that are not so common. He creates fantasy vehicles that you have to see to believe. Take a look at this highly skilled DIY luxury car build below. This is so awesome.
First he started out with an old rusty Mercedes-Benz CLK, of course with 30″ wheels. To fit these he had to completely re-work the fenders, making them huge in order to fit these giant wheels.
It appears to have body parts from several different type of cars but most of the parts are one-off customs, hand-built by him.
You can tell that this car has a long way to go. It’s hard to imagine what this is going to look like when it’s all done.
The front end mimics a high-end luxury car with that huge grill.
After he lines up the solid body the way he wants, he begins molding it with cardboard templates and expanding foam. Lots and lots of expanding foam.
After the foam dries, he slowly begins carving and molding away. This is an incredibly tedious process that must be perfect.
He starts shaping the drastic body lines and features that will make this DIY luxury car completely unique.
After he’s done sculpting the first layer of foam, the car begins to take shape. It looks absolutely nothing like the Mercedes that he started with.
He then uses cardboard to stencil out some of it and make the body lines match the distinct front end.
Using long blades and different saws he slowly cuts away pieces of foam making some beautiful lines completely unique to this car alone.
A little more sculpting…
The sculpting takes very precise measurements as it has to match perfectly on both sides.
Using the template he fine tunes both sides of the car to mimic each other perfectly.
Can’t forget some simple headlights.
We finally have the final exterior shape which is ready for prep and paint.
This thing is seriously different with some very aggressive curves and lines. This DIY luxury car looks fast just standing there.
With the exterior almost finished it was time to fabricate a one of a kind interior.
Now it times to mix up a little bit more goo.
To work on the interior.
A little goo here, a little goo there. This looks like a mess. It’s hard to figure out how this will come together to be a show car.
More sculpting. More goo.
The finished interior. Look at the detail that the artist put into it. After the foam was all dry he wrapped it in the finest leathers.
The exterior after it’s been painted in a beautiful gloss red.
Don’t forget the insanely huge wheels on this DIY luxury car.
Take a look at that rear end! I love the tail lights and the exhaust. The best part is that it’s a one of a kind car that you will never see a duplicate of.
It is quite obvious that this car grabs a ton of attention.

It’s hard to believe that this car was made with an old junky car and some expandable foam. He turned something that was very ugly into something very beautiful and sexy. I want this car! It looks like a very expensive exotic supercar but it’s just a normal Mercedes that has been completely transformed into something incredible. This guy has some seriously impressive talents considering that he just built a DIY luxury car!
