This Hand Engraved Nissan GTR Is A Work Of Art

As soon as I turned 16 and got my first car my attention was immediately geared toward how I could make my standard 92 Chevrolet Blazer stand out and be unique to me. Granted in the automotive world you have an unlimited supply of different styles and functions that are easily obtainable from a lot, however they are still factory produced vehicles and remain the same as countless others across the globe. If you drive a Mustang GT or a Chevrolet Camaro you can’t go anywhere without seeing 10 more at a light surrounding you. If you live in Utah you can’t go anywhere without seeing a Subaru with marathon stickers on it at every single intersection. Automotive manufacturers try to stylize their vehicles to compliment individual personality, but let’s be honest, we are all unique and have individual tastes and preferences. Thus dawned the age of automotive customization. Shortly after WWII kids were handed down their parents pre-war cars and they all looked basically the same. Kids started chopping metal and searching for the biggest motors they could find to go as fast as they could. They would remove the fenders and running boards along with any unwanted weight just to go faster. They would give these cars some unimaginable paint jobs all just to stand out from the crowd of blue and black cars driving down the streets. Car customization has come a long way since then and the talent that is being shaped is truly out of this world. The options these days are limitless and having a factory car is something that is slowly fading away with younger generations. While some things I find absolutely horrible, others I draw inspiration from in order to create my own one of a kind customs. I love building cars and respect the time and effort that goes into making one unique. Regardless of your taste or style, you have to appreciate the time and effort that goes into these custom vehicles.

This Nissan GTR is no exception and truly pushes the boundaries of customization. This car is already one of the most desired cars on the planet for a true automotive enthusiast. The Nissan GTR is priced at over $100k and comes factory with roughly 600 turbocharged ponies under the hood. It is an engineering marvel that many v8 powered cars fear. Not many people do too much to customize a car this valuable other than a set of wheels and some basic motor modifications but these guys (Kuhl Racing out of Japan) took things to a new level with this already beautiful car. I’m talking about thousands of hours of incredibly detailed work involved and a skill that I’ve never seen so close to being perfected.

The shop started out by painstakingly masking out their insanely detailed design. This is typically what you would see on a car before entering the paint booth but these masking marks are for something much more unique than a crazy paint job.

If you’ve ever painted anything with detail you might know that this is one of the most tedious parts of the project. The more time you spend here the less time you’ll spend fixing mistakes in the future.

After the design was tediously masked out they started laying out a beautiful design. This looks like it’s getting ready for an incredibly detailed pin striping job but that’s not the case at all.

Pin striping has been perfected and is an old school form of car customizing. It’s 2019 and we’re due for something new in the automotive customization world.

Honestly it’s looking like a bit of a mess. I can’t see how this is going to look attractive when all is said and done. This much detail can really draw your attention away from an already beautiful car.

And this is where you really start to cringe! Yes that is a dremel tool and yes he is engraving the details right into the metal body panels of the $100k car.

A job this big and this detailed definitely requires the help of a good buddy with a steady hand.

This is just the front fender of the engraved GTR and I can’t even imagine the amount of time that went into this one single panel.

They purchased a custom body kit to enhance the body lines of the GTR. This is where most people call it a day with their customizing. These guys decided to make it one of a kind. Im guessing that they used a chrome paint to cover the detailed panels. Most of the aftermarket parts aren’t metal so actual chrome plating wouldn’t work too well.

The motor is out so my guess, or I should say my wish, is that it’s off at the shop for hopefully upwards of 800 hp of all wheel drive fury.

The detail in every square inch is second to none. If you mess up one single line in this design you would have to start completely over with a new panel. There is no room for error.

Along with an insane body, the exhaust on this machine is a work of art on its own. Here they are mocking it up for the final welds. Look at all those pie cuts! There has to be close to 100 here!

As you can tell, the custom body of the engraved GTR is a lot wider than the factory wheel. This gives the shop plenty of room to throw on a much wider wheel and tire offering some serious handling for a car that already handles better than almost anything on the road at this price.

What’s this!? A gold one? I guess they didn’t want to have the only fully engraved GTR driving on the road, so they built two. A gold one and a chrome one. Must be nice….

While this might be a bit extreme for some people, I can’t get enough of it. I think the amount of work speaks for itself and when you’re driving a Nissan GTR you’re not trying to be subtle. Why not take it to the next level and really scream, “HEY LOOK AT MY CAR!!!”

When it’s out in the sun the detail really pops. The gold engraved GTR kind of reminds me of something that El Chapo might buy. Either way, I wouldn’t mind driving around in this. Although one door ding would seriously ruin your day.

The detail covers almost every inch of this car. Each leaf and pit you see was done by hand. Covering the entire car, this process must have taken forever to complete.

The amount of time invested into these two GTR’s was worth it in my opinion. You will never see another GTR like this one, except for its twin of course.

Here is the gold one all polished up for a car show. Those wheels are the stuff my dreams are made of! They match the look of the car perfectly.

I’m not a fan of the wheels on the silver GTR but like I said before. In this world of modifying sports cars it is all about personal taste and that’s exactly what makes the automotive customizing world so fun and unique.

This thing is seriously unreal. It is too much, it is gawdy, it is incredibly over the top and it is very gold! That’s exactly what I love this car so much. Life’s too short to drive boring cars.

Here is the exhaust all buttoned up. Just look at those welds! It’s a shame that these will rarely be seen being under the car. I would drive around with a giant mirror just to place under that intricate work of art when I parked it.

The cars were designed and built by Kuhl Racing out of Japan. There is nothing else like them in the world and they are sure to break necks at a car show or out on the street. One door ding though and you’re going to be a little more than upset.

H/T

The Nissan Skyline GTR is already one of my dream cars. The performance you get for the money is a hard one to rival. The technology that went into this machine is seriously insane and it will go down in the books as one of the best cars made this decade. Take an already amazing platform and then throw it into the world of automotive customization. The ideas start flowing and all of a sudden you’re left with this, an engraved GTR. An absolute masterpiece that is completely unique. The style definitely isn’t for everyone but that’s exactly what makes these two cars so special. I know that they are touring the US right now thanks to a few minutes of Instagram stalking and I hope they make it close to me soon so I can see them in person.
