A loud rumble caught the attention of a few Baltimore residents and they all rushed to see what was causing the commotion. They noticed a huge landslide taking place in front of them and their vehicles were on the edge of a newly formed cliff over some train tracks at the bottom of a ravine. The Baltimore landslide swallowed nearly a dozen cars on a street in Baltimore on that Thursday morning, when one side of the street suddenly slid into a ravine and onto the train tracks below.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which was initially reported by local media as a sinkhole. Hopefully those cars were insured because I doubt any of them are salvageable from the sounds of that crash. Have you ever witnessed anything like a landslide or sinkhole right in front of your eyes? I’ve been lucky enough not to, but it is scary to think what can happen when you have a seemingly stable hill plus too much moisture. I have seen the aftermath of some landslides in my area though and it’s hard to think that the Earth can just slowly slide away, swallowing anything and everything that is in its way.
