If you’re a car lover like me, we probably run into the same problems. We constantly battle with the struggle of wanting to possess incredible pieces of driving machinery with a bank account that cannot support the passion. Well there are far more people with a passion for these high-end cars than the amount of people who can actually afford them. That’s part of the drive to owning one though, in my opinion. Because of the insane price tags on these supercars, enthusiasts have started to take things into their own hands to create some of the most incredible knock-offs I’ve ever seen. Like the Lamborghini made from a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Or the one of a kind sports car molded from foam. These cars are created on a budget but you’d never know by just looking at the final result. Below is one of the most sought after cars of all time. A McLaren F1. The difference is that this one cost roughly $30,000 rather than $7,000,000. Take a look at this amazing DIY McLaren.
Jacek Mazur is a health and safety advisor who lives in Poland and has a huge passion for fine automobiles.

He spent a total of 8 years collecting parts and fabricating one of the most difficult builds of his life.

Almost all of the components on this incredibly rare supercar are custom-made. The power plant is a mix of parts from various high-end Mercedes and Audi’s.

The frame-work had to be incredibly precise and durable. This hand-made supercar is capable of going over 200 mph!

To achieve speeds that fast a huge power plant was needed and a very lightweight frame. There was no room for error with this build.

He’s an amateur mechanic who definitely cannot afford the taste he has acquired over the years. He knew he had to take matters into his own hands to own what he truly wanted.

This isn’t the first build he’s done to replicate a supercar. He’s hand-built a few Lamborghini’s before but, this McLaren would be the ultimate test of his talents.

Take a look at that push rod suspension! You only find that on the best cars in the world.

If you’ve never seen the inside of a McLaren before you might notice something strange. The steering wheel is right in the center of the cockpit allowing for two passengers and a driver.

Coming across a McLaren body is no easy task nor is it a cheap find. So he had no other choice than to fabricate his own custom shell.

The interior structure and body molds all had to be hand-made and tediously refined for perfection.

This father of two recruited over 30 friends and family members to help him with this incredible build.

He spent countless hours on the internet coming up with the measurements and closely examining photographs just so he could match each and every detail perfectly.

This streamlined race car had to be built to last and most importantly it had to be safe. After all, this McLaren replica has a 0-60 time of 6 seconds!

Once he had the shell of this DIY supercar in the rough shape that he needed, it was time to primer and bond it to the interior shell.

There was still a ton of work ahead.

You can see how each of these intricate and delicate pieces will fuse together to make one durable and rigid structure capable of over 200 mph.

With the frame-work completed and the structure assembly in place, it was time to focus on the mechanical parts of the build.

The engine is a v12 Audi motor capable of ridiculous power and an insane exhaust note.

The suspension and brake components are off of a high-end Mercedes-Benz ensuring safety and predictability at high speeds.

This car is really starting to come together!

With the mechanical components in place, he was able to start on the finishing work of the body and interior. When the original car is worth millions, he knew he had to take his time and perfect each detail.

You can see how the driver is situated inside this jet fighter-like cockpit. It has room for 3 adults and possibly a small child behind the driver’s seat. Although I’m not sure just how safe that would be. Hopefully that space is for a bag of groceries.

He says that he prefers owning one that he has built himself instead of a real one because of a few reasons. The pride in craftsmanship that he executed and the simple fact that he would be terrified to drive a real one for fear of damaging a multi-million dollar vehicle. He can have fun in one that only cost $30,000.

Here are some of the high-end components that he used for suspension and braking. These parts don’t look cheap but they are a fraction of the cost of real McLaren parts.

After the fitment of everything was ensured, it was time to disassemble the entire vehicle and clean, tune, tighten and finish for the final assembly.

He spent hours cleaning and tuning the engine so that it would perform like a world-class supercar should. It would have been a shame to see a supercar only to find out it was really a Pontiac Fiero underneath its beautiful shell.

With tuning and tightening complete, it was time to reassemble and paint this magnificent dream car.

He used many coats of primer and spent hours sanding to make this body perfectly smooth.

Sanding and sanding and sanding.

He painted the DIY supercar a very rare special edition McLaren white. This had always been his dream car and after 8 years a lot of hard work, he finally owns one.

The smile on his face says it all. This is a man who is proud of his build! I am insanely jealous but it looks like he proved that some supercars are within reach.

Here is the real deal. A 1995 McLaren F1 painted white. It’s hard to tell the difference. I’m seriously impressed with this build.

Here is one of Mazur’s previous builds. A Lamborghini Countach built on the frame of a Pontiac Fiero.

Another previous Lamborghini that he takes pride in building. These vehicles gave him the confidence to tackle his hardest build yet.

Have you ever seen a car build of this magnitude? It’s not like everyday you see a McLaren F1 driving down the street so this has to be his pride and joy. He was asked if he would trade his in for a real one and he replied no way. He obviously has a lot of fun in this dream car. This has been a dream car of mine since I was a little kid and I can’t imagine the feeling he has while whipping this exotic around town. Kudos to this guy and his impressive DIY supercar.
