We’ve all had that piece of furniture that we just stare at and absolutely hate. You want to update it, but have no idea where to start. You can try a DIY project, but then it might be ruined and you’ll be out a lot of time and money. Or you could just go out and buy a completely new piece of furniture. Well this was the predicament that this woman was in. She had a boring kitchen table, didn’t want to buy a new one, and that’s when the creative juices started flowing. She took an old, beat up table and turned it into an amazing piece of artwork. Check out this step by step DIY mosaic kitchen table.
This picture is a little blurry, but you can see that she started off with a plain, boring table.

Time to work on the design. There are so many options because there is a lot of flat space.

The design is starting to take a little bit of shape. You can see that there are a few designs drawn already, but you just wait!

This was a very time-consuming project because he had to fit each glass piece individually.

You can see that the design is growing slowly but surely.

It’s amazing watching the entire process unfold. Next time you see something created using mosaic glass, you might appreciate it a little bit more.

Slowly adding the border and the individual tile squares.

Now she’s adding more designs along the border to fill in even more space.

She didn’t want to leave any open space from the old table showing because she didn’t like the color of it at all.

This is really starting to look amazing. You can really see what her vision was for this table. I probably would have just gone out and bought a new table.

I love the individual rows of tile adding even more color to this vibrant table.

She used glass scraps to fill in all of the empty space. She saved pieces of glass from the larger designs to fill in this space.

Now it was time for the grout. This will fill in any tiny spaces that she was unable to fill with glass pieces.

The entire table was covered in grout to ensure she didn’t have to do it a second time.

With the excess grout cleaned off, the table is finally finished! Wow, this turned into a really amazing table. I wonder how heavy it is.

She definitely had a vision for a DIY mosaic kitchen table and turned it into a reality! I bet this was very rewarding once it was completely done.
Another view of the table. You can really see the detail with the individual beads and square pieces of glass in this picture.

I’m pretty jealous of how this table turned out. Not only is it beautiful, it’ll be very durable thanks to the grout and finish.

I love seeing people create amazing pieces of art on their own, rather than paying for them to be done by someone else. I once heard the term ‘in-sourcing’ which is basically when you decide to do something yourself, rather than outsourcing it to someone else for a cost. I love DIY projects and I am kind of tempted to try something like this on an old table I have lying around.
