If you’re a Star Wars fan like me, you’ve most likely dreamed of owning a working lightsaber. It’s one of the most iconic movie weapons of all time, and seriously deadly to boot. Well if you’ve had this dream like I have, this is definitely something you’re going to want to look at. It may not be a real lightsaber, but it is the closest any of us will probably come to owning one. An Imgur user decided that he wanted try making a DIY lightsaber himself, and I have to say it turned out incredibly successful.
It took 110 LED’s to get this thing to look the way he wanted it too.

He then soldered all the LED’s together. He messed up a few times and had to restart the whole thing.

This is the power source for the homemade lightsaber. He wired 4 of these batteries together.

This is the driver that regulates the output of power to the LED’s.

This chrome tube will make up the handle of the homemade lightsaber. It is a 30mm inside diameter and 250mm long pipe.

This is the actual blade of the homemade lightsaber. It is 1000mm long, and the poster stuffed it with a foam type of packing material. It lessens the impact when actually fighting someone.

He then slid the blade inside the handle and screwed it together.

This button was 3D printed, and will be used to hold the on and off switch.

He then fed his wiring through the button.

The switch installed.

This is the end result. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

These things are pretty bright with all the lights shut off. Now he’s ready for battle!

This would send any Star Wars fan screaming with excitement. The prospect of owning a lightsaber you can actually fight with is pretty awesome. I may have to commission one of these to be built for me!
