Lord of the Rings is one of the most classic and well-known fantasy novels ever written. It has gained world-wide acclaim and had a trilogy of incredibly high budget movies made about the books. I remember reading the books for the first time when I was in jr. high school, and I was immediately enthralled. I was completely sucked into this other world. The characters were so vibrant and you really felt as if you were walking through this real world with them. The battle scenes felt like they were taking place right next to you, J.R.R. Tolkien was a master of making you feel a part of the action playing out in the book. The books and movies alike have millions of fans around the world. One of the most popular characters in the books are of the course, the hobbits. There small stature means that their houses are considerably smaller than normal sized humans. The houses in the movie were pretty awesome, and one fan decided he wanted to make his own. Check out how he did it below!
30-year-old Ashley Yeates decided this overgrown area would be the perfect spot for his tiny hobbit house.

First he dug out the bottom of what will be the house. Even a hobbit needs a little room to breathe.

The frame looks solidly built, but it definitely gives you a sense of how small this place is going to be.

Corrugated roofing was used for the interior walls of the hobbit house.

Here the builder is water proofing the base of the floor so it doesn’t leak. He has also put up a water proof membrane along the walls.

If you’ve seen the movies then you know this is the start of the doorway. The circle front doors of the hobbit houses are very iconic.

The problem I have with this house is that with it being a true hobbit house, everything is much smaller. I don’t know if I would want to crawl through that door all the time.

The roof is complete and dirt is laid on top. The siding on the entrance way is also in place.

The backdrop for this house really reminds me of a hobbit village from the movie.

He laid sod down on top of the roof to give it an even more authentic hobbit feel.

He even adds some landscaping. Hobbits are known for the affinity for all things that grow.

He even added electricity!

The wood wall panels look great and tie in with the wood on the outside of the house.

These steps are right under the front door, making it easier to gain entry.

He turned the wood support beams for the roof into light bulb housings. he also painted them and they really do look great.

Here is the framing done for a sitting area.

And this is the finished product. There is even some storage underneath.

The guy even put up wallpaper! He seriously tried to think of everything for this place.

I really love all the natural wood he used on the inside. A hobbit house should be as close to nature as possible in my opinion.

Wow, this could be straight out of the movie!

I think J.R.R. Tolkien would be proud.

You know it’s a good book when people are going out of their way to recreate something from it. This guy should be extremely proud of what he made. This place really does look like it was taken straight from the movie set. Hopefully he gets a lot of use and enjoyment out of this place. If anything it could always be turned into a luxury dog house.
