DIY projects are a great hobby and can be really rewarding. Building something with your own hands gives you a sense of great accomplishment and pride, as it should. Imgur user Meekerthehollow decided to try his hand at his second DIY coffee table, and it turned out great. This beautiful piece of furniture looks like a really authentic antique, but it only cost him under $100 to make. If that isn’t a bargain I don’t know what is. He repurposed old wood for this project which definitely helped give the whole table an antique feeling. The metal brackets on the side do a nice job of adding dimension and little different color to the whole project. He started out by chipping away at the table top to give it a weathered look and feel. Repurposing old wood can also really help give a piece of furniture an authentic antique feel.

This pock-marked look is really cool. Fairly simple to do as well with a beveled wood chisel.

At this point he fit the base of the table together and screwed the braces into the legs.

Fitting the X braces into the sides of the table. He had to use a wood file and a saw to notch out the wood so it fit snuggly in the corners of the table.

To complete construction, he simply glued and nailed the X braces into place. This is so simple!

Lately he stained the wood with a water based solution that helps speed up the drying time.

Completed project. This table looks fantastic!

You really get a very worn and rustic look from this simple DIY coffee table.

This is a DIY project that almost anyone of any skill level could take on and accomplish. There really isn’t a lot of construction to this table and limited use of power tools. It would be a great quick weekend project that would give you a great piece of furniture that will look awesome and last you quite a while.
