Cars have always fascinated me. The engineering behind one of the worlds greatest modern pieces of technology is still one of the biggest accomplishments in human history. So many moving parts that are interdependent on one another in order to complete one main function is truly a modern marvel. We tend to forget how far car technology has come because cars have become second nature to most people. Have you ever thought about what it would take to design your own car though? I don’t mean picking out your options for heated leather seats at the dealership. I’m talking about actually designing a car from the ground up. The body, the motor and everything that comes with it. People who do this put their souls into machines like these. It truly is an extension of themselves and their personality. I personally consider cars art. Many others do not see it the same way. When someone pours their heart, soul, time and dedication into creating something however, I consider that art. I think it’s safe to say what this guy is created is definitely a work of art. Check out the pictures below and see what happens when someone takes it up on themselves to design their dream car.
This guy right here is none other than 27-year-old Chinese resident Chen Yinxi. This is the car that has given him quite a bit of attention lately. Isn’t it gorgeous?
Chen has a passion for cars, which should be pretty obvious. He is an automotive engineering student, and decided to take a crack at building his very own “super car”. As you can see, he definitely succeeded.
Chen had been wanting to try his hand at building his own car for a while. He went to a university and started learning how to design cars.
He painstakingly hand crafted every part for this completely custom creation. Tedious hours in the shop definitely paid off the in the end however.
It took Chen six months to build this whole machine from the ground up. Frame, chassis, everything on this car is hand-built. 6 months to build a car from the ground up is pretty amazing.
He recently showed off his creation at the Hainan International Automotive Industry Exhibition held in China. Let’s just say it definitely turned some heads. He got a great response from almost everyone who saw the vehicle.
Chen hopes to one day make a big impact on the automotive industry. I’d say he’s off to a great start.
Here is his creation at Hainan International Automotive Industry Exhibition all shined and polished. Visitors were very impressed that this super expensive looking car was built by recent college graduate.
The craziest thing about this story is that the entire build cost about $5,000. The car is also electric!
Now we did say there was a catch with this one of a kind machine. The term “Super Car” is being used very loosely.
While it may look like a $500k super car, the performance unfortunately doesn’t match that of the worlds leading super cars.
The car is not road legal unfortunately, and it actually tops out at just 37 mph. The Chinese government has a very strict policy of what companies can produce when it comes to cars that are road legal. Unlike in the United States to where if you can prove it works, you can drive it.
The long, sleek and aggressive body angles give this the look of a car that would be an absolute demon on the road however.
This thing even has Lamborghini doors! You know you’ve always wanted a car with Lamborghini styled doors.
While the performance isn’t up to par, this thing sure has some head snapping looks. It is definitely a one of a kind creation.
My favorite picture of Chen. He has said that he is making a lot of his build costs back by leasing the car out to people for photo shoots and videos!

This guy took his passion for cars to a whole other level when he decided to build his own from the ground up. Building a whole car from scratch in a 6 month time frame is pretty incredible when you think about the massive amounts of engineering that goes into designing a completely new car. Chen would like to keep pursuing his dream of breaking into the car industry, although it proving more difficult than he imagined. His parents want him to take over the factory that his father owns and continue the family business. I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye out for this kid though. I really hope he can translate his incredible talent into mainstream vehicles.
