13832 Pfent Street: 2008-2013

2008: Houses are boarded up when they are vacated for extended periods of time.

2009: The thought process is to discourage squatters from taking over the property.
2011: It appears that the boards didn’t prevent them from taking over the property.

2013: And we are left with another abandoned house that’s been destroyed by fire.
It tears me up to see the rapid deterioration of Detroit. It is absolutely painful to see the potential of these homes and imagine them in their former grandeur in contrast to what they have tragically become. Hopefully these powerful illustrations of the decline of Detroit will be viewed and stir up some kind of emotion that will ignite some kind of movement towards repairing and rebuilding this city to its former grandeur.
