Alternative living styles are becoming more and more popular in today’s world. Many people are trading in the manicured suburbs they grew up in for more remote living locations. Some people are even choosing to travel the country in renovated buses. To be honest this sort of lifestyle appeals to me personally. I have never been a person to put much emphasis on material wealth and possessions. As long as I have my friends and family that love me and enough money to sustain myself I am pretty content. A dream I have had for a while is to take an old Volkswagen Bus and strip out the inside. I want to create a living space in the back of the bus and travel around the country and explore new places. For many people this may seem ridiculous and absurd. It really would be an amazing thing to do though. Even if you just did it for a while, then went back to a more traditional lifestyle. Well the man in the picture below certainly has no intention of going back to a traditional lifestyle anytime soon. This is Bruce Campbell. For a very long time he wanted a different living situation than most people.
When the opportunity presented itself for him to buy his dream home, he couldn’t pass it up.
He purchased this old Boeing 727 for $220,000. That is about as much as your spend in most places for a nice home.
The plane was placed in the middle of the forest to give Bruce the privacy and serenity he desired.
These are the stairs that Bruce uses to access the plane and his entire living area.
Bruce fully admits that this is not a very cozy space, but it works for everything he needs.
The cockpit area of the plane is really neat as many of the controls are still intact.
With all the seats torn out of the fuselage of the plane, there is plenty of space for all of Bruce’s possessions.
He has a workshop area where he keeps many things he uses to constantly upgrade the plane to make it more livable.
He has also brought many of the comforts of a modern home aboard as well.
Bruce is very content in his new-found slice of paradise.

Most people in today’s world wouldn’t want to give up their modern-day creature comforts to live in an old airplane. Bruce is definitely not most people though. He saw a use for a piece of aerospace technology instead of shredding it like normally would be done. While it would get lonely, this kind of secluded living place would suit me absolutely perfectly.
