Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Save the environment. Make the world a better place for future generations. Ever since I was little, these slogans and ideals have been pounded into my head. Now there’s this company out of California telling us NOT to throw away our trash and NOT to use the recycle bin. This company, Reduce. Reuse. Grow., has a special reason. Yes, you probably caught that at the end of their name, GROW. Reduce. Reuse. Grow. has created a biodegradable coffee cup, that grows plants native to your region. State symbols printed on the cups will let you know where it’s okay to plant. What a fantastic idea and great way to up-cycle something that normally occupies a landfill. While at the same time, rejuvenating the environment by processing the CO2 continually pumped into the atmosphere. Reduce. Reuse. Grow. has a mission statement to, “Provide an alternative to current waste stream. Assuring consumers that our consumptions habits are being taken care of as responsibly as possible, but also giving back to the communities in which we live upon.” Who would have thought that we could plant trash to help the environment?
They come with easy to follow instructions. Designer Alex Henige says, ““We have done testing with only a handful of native seeds here in California as related to coffee heat. We have had no problem with their germination due to the fact that they are not coming in direct contact with the coffee itself”

“The liner as well as the paper absorbs a lot of the heat allowing the seeds to not be effected directly.” CO2 extraction for one tree over the 40 years.

“This is a product I stand behind fully and I look forward to seeing where and how it develops within the next couple months!” CO2 Production vs. Extraction.

Potential future products.
