How To Make The Best Beer Can Bacon Burgers On Your Grill This Summer

Summer is officially here! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and your barbecue has been anxiously awaiting for you to use it since last fall. What are some of your favorite summer time foods? I love ribs, burgers, hot dogs, you name it! Luckily I’m pretty active in the summer or else I would gain a ton of weight from eating all of the delicious food that comes off of our grill. I recently came across a YouTube channel called BarbecueWeb. While scrolling through some of their videos, their Beer Can Bacon Burgers caught my attention. I mean, how can you go wrong when you include bacon, beer, and burgers? Well if you enjoy a fantastic burger, then you can’t go wrong when making the Beer Can Bacon Burgers by the BBQ Pit Boys! Here are step by step instructions on how to make this delicious looking burger. At the very end, you can watch the entire video which includes what they choose to serve with it.

To make the Beer Can Bacon Burgers, you will first need a few pound of ground chuck, full beer cans (you can drink it later), and bacon. With the bacon, you’ll want 2 slices per patty.

To start off, you’ll want ground chuck that is 80-85% lean meat. This will work best for grilling. Roll the ground chuck into 1/2lb – 3/4lb balls.

Next, take your full beer can and mold the chuck balls around the can. You want the meat to be cold so it’s easier to form. If the meat is warm at all, it won’t form around the cans very well.

After you have formed the meat around the cans, take two slices of bacon and wrap it around the meat and can.

Using a washcloth, pull the can out carefully. This will leave a hole in the middle of the meat that you are going to fill with all sorts of grilled goodness.

Some of the items you can use  for the stuffing is beef hash, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, chili, bacon, or roast beef. These are just a few ideas so this is where you can get really creative.

Once your stuffing items are grilled to perfection, you can start stuffing your burgers.

When the burgers have been stuffed, you’ll want to take some cheese. What type of cheese you use is up to you. Some suggestions would be pepperjack cut into cubes or shredded sharp cheddar. Just place the cheese on top and lightly push it down. To give your burgers an extra kick, you can add BBQ sauce or hot sauce. Not too much, but a couple of splashes will do.

Once the burgers have been stuffed to capacity, you’ll want to put them on a grill over medium heat. Keep them away from direct heat. Cook them at 300°F for about an hour or until done. Cooking them over indirect heat will allow them to slow cook to perfection.

Once the burgers are done, you will remove them from the grill. You can serve them on a bun or even just with a few sides, which allow the burgers to be the star of this meal.

I have already sent this video to my husband and we now plan on grilling these up over the weekend. My mouth won’t stop watering, and even though I wasn’t hungry before, my stomach is ready for some good home cooked barbecue.
