When a baby deer was separated from its family by a flooded river in Noakhali, Bangladesh, a young local boy braved the swollen river to reunite the fawn with its family. As the photos show, the swift river waters were at times above the boy’s head, all that was visible was his hand skillfully holding the baby deer by all four legs. Hasibul Wahab, the wildlife photographer who captured the daring rescue, was as impressed by the boy’s heroism as he was worried for his safety. “My friend was even ready to jump into the river to save the boy. But he made it, and when he returned, we thanked the boy,” he said. “There were only five to seven people observing this situation but it was a phenomenal sight.”
This young boy named Belal didn’t hesitate when he saw that a young deer was being swept away in a flood and getting further and further away from its family.
He reached the deer and lifted it above his head holding on by just its legs.
Onlookers were unsure if the young boy was going to appear again after retrieving the deer.
When the young boy placed the deer on the shore, everyone cheered. The young boy and young deer had made it.
This small deer was scared at first, but quickly realized that it was now safe.
A short time later the small deer was reunited with its family as they galloped away.
This boy really didn’t think twice when it came to rescuing this deer. He jumped in and did what he knew had to be done in order for it to survive! He was a true hero that day, even if he did risk his own life in the process.
