There are still people who are refusing to wear masks. Even though the United States has the highest amount of people refusing, people in other countries are also refusing to wear them even though scientists from around the world are recommending wearing them.
Well, local authorities of Java in Indonesia came up with a punishment for those who refuse to wear a mask. 8 people who recently refused to wear a mask were forced to dig graves for COVID-19 victims.
According to Jakarta Post, 8 people who refused to wear masks were given the punishment of digging the graves for COVID-19 victims.
Local authorities assigned two people to each grave. One would be responsible for digging the grave while the other one would lay wooden boards to support the coffin.
They were given full-body protective gear so there is no risk of exposure.
Anti-maskers in Indonesia were already subject to community service or fines.
The head of Cerme district, Suyono told Tribun News, “There are only three available grave diggers at the moment, so I thought I might as well put these people to work for them. Hopefully this can create a deterrent effect against violations.”
