Think about going for an afternoon ride on the motorcycle. You get away from the city, out in the sticks, and you round a corner when something catches your eye. It looks like a small to medium-sized abandoned pet container. Being the animal lover that you are, you can’t seem to shake the feeling that something’s just not right. You go back to investigate, and find a puppy, barely alive. She’s trapped inside and was left to die with nothing inside but a heaping pile of her own waste. This is what happened to Bret and the following pictures help to illustrate what he did next.
Bret spotted an animal carrier off the side of the road and decided to stop.

The animal carrier had been chewed through from the inside. Something definitely wanted out.

Bret unlocked and opened the crate to find an emaciated Charlie Bravo.

Bret brought her food, which she desperately needed.

To further the rescue, Bret left and came back with a truck to take Charlie Bravo home.

Charlie was relieved and quickly showed her gratitude.

Charlie gets a much-needed bath.

With overgrown nails, digging into her feet, Charlie had a hard time walking.

The vet took care of her nails and bodily sores from being cooped up in a cramped crate for all that time.

No one knows how long she was in the crate, but the vet estimated her age to be around 8 months.

Even with three other rescues in the house, Bret decided that he couldn’t part with Charlie Bravo. (CB for short.)

Here’s CB looking healthy and slowly getting stronger.

CB is obviously happy to finally be in a safe and loving home.

Bret received donations to help with CB’s medical bills.
Getting back to being a happy and playful puppy.

With the extra money left over, thoughts are bouncing between donating to an existing shelter or possibly creating his own.

If Bret creates his own shelter, he says he’ll call it Charlie’s Angels.

Charlie sure seems glad to finally have the loving home that she deserves.

It makes me happy that there are still people out there that are willing to take the time out of their day to make sure that all is right in the world. Every so often, you just have to relax and get back in touch with those gut feelings. Most importantly though, you have to be willing to listen and act upon them when they arise. I hope the pictures of this adorable puppy being nursed back to health have helped to brighten your day and put a smile on your face.
