I have a friend that makes a pretty good living doing all things interior design and craft. When I go to her house I am literally in awe of the cuteness that I see around every corner. She would easily give Martha Stewart a run for her money. She will never see the inside of my home because, well…I have zero talent. No eye for it whatsoever. Needless to say I am pretty thankful that there are people out there that are good at it for those of us that are lacking in that department. In a lot of cases, not only do people need to have an eye for what looks good, they also need to have a talent for design. Do you know the average size of an apartment in Manhattan? 400 square feet! There are obviously exceptions to that based on salary etc. But that is the average. So you defiantly need to do a lot with a small amount of space. And these tiny apartment ideas prove that it’s easier than you think.

Saving space by sleeping tucked above the kitchen. Brilliant!

Clean and beautiful. I’m not an expert but I believe they call this a minimalist design.

Very cool stairs that lead to a bed on the landing.

Drawers hidden in the stairs.

If you like IKEA then you will love this.

This studio has a feminine touch to it. The foot of the bed doubles as a desk area.

This is an open plan done right.

Kind of makes you wonder why some of us need all of that space, doesn’t it?

You can do a whole lot with a measly 420 square feet.

This small studio belongs to a couple in Brooklyn New York. While it is not very wide, it is very tall.

It’s 240 square feet.

It’s no secret that you pay a lot of money for very little space in New York.

So you have to make the best of it.

And they really did make the best of it!

This is a very long and narrow apartment. Proof that any dimension can be made to look beautiful and open.

This studio works because the furniture is angled around the fireplace just right.

Because bunk beds aren’t just for kids.

They can be huge space savers. And they are pretty fun.

Check out how this person uses an IKEA bookcase to separate a room. Pretty smart, not to mention inexpensive.

Here are some more partitions that are pretty cool. The options are endless with the right imagination.

After seeing these tiny apartment ideas not only do I know that I need to step up my interior decorating game, I most definitely need to make a trip to IKEA. These apartments are pretty small, but do you know how small the world’s smallest apartment is? It is an 86 square foot apartment located in a Haussmann-style building in Paris. They are easy, and just in time for summer!
