Recently, Imgur user leroux posted online a DIY project that he did while he was bored at work. He did it basically with very few supplies and the end result is seriously awesome. Very simple, but awesome.
He started with just two Uhaul Sport Utility Boxes that were 15″x15″x48″.

He then used white latex paint for the “wood” and “Boston Brick” for the bricks. After it was dry, he sponge painted the bricks.

He then used an opened up a 3rd box (same size as the previous two) to make the front and back section.

Here is what it looks like so far with two boxes closed and one open. He also used a couple 24″x16″x24″ boxes for the back, floor, log rack and logs.

He used 3/4″ white pine and trimmed it for the mantle. He secured it with just some liquid nails.

He only used cardboard and hot glue to make the side rails and cross supports.

Time for the logs. He just rolled up cardboard and then unrolled them at which he then gave them cuts. Afterwards, he spray painted it black for a charcoal look.

After cutting slits about 1″ wide, he taped them together and fed Christmas lights through.

The final result of the logs look pretty realistic.

The final result: Awesome!

The final piece with some decor.

It’s amazing how people can turn something as ordinary as two boxes into something so awesome.
